Rain, rain, come my way

Hello there! It's been a while so it is time for a sale! (It's also because I'm going on vacation and won't be able to ship orders for a while, but who's quibbling?) From October 1 to 20, all items at aileen.etsy.com are discounted by 15% when the code 2015ROMANHOLIDAY is used at check out. Deal, right? All orders will ship by October 22, which means you can cross off your holiday shopping list early!

Like the Elodie necklace? This rain cloud necklace with the sterling silver pendant and pale smoky quartz raindrops can be yours. The stones are faceted with a point on one side and with a flat top like a regular pear-shaped gem on the other. You can wear it with the points facing in or out!

Family of neutrals

The Justina necklace has been chosen for an Etsy treasury! Entitled Beige Accent, the colours are soothing and warm, and I just can't get enough of it!

Craft fair wrap up

What a fabulous three weeks it has been! ARIA INDUSTRIES hit up three craft fairs and now that the shop at aileen.etsy.com has been restocked, it's time to work on posting some new items. The number would have been fourteen, but six of those brand new pieces sold at the events!

Grace Locke, who won the $25 gift card draw at the South Arm Christmas Craft Fair stopped by at the event in Steveston and applied the value of her gift card to the Rosalline necklace. She was choosing between that and the Ilke earrings, but the bib necklace won her over in the end. And I can't forget to mention that the Steveston Christmas Craft Fair's winner is Leigh Betteridge!

With this ring...

My best bud Yvonne tied the knot earlier this year, my cousin Andy did it recently, and my friend Jenn will be doing it in about a month. With weddings on my mind, it's no wonder my latest necklace looks like an engagement ring! The Marianne necklace features a handmade hammered ring with an extra large crystal quartz that is faceted like a round brilliant diamond. Flanking the center stone are five celestites on either side - these stones are naturally iridescent, which means they sparkle like crazy! And doesn't the necklace look fabulous with my chrysanthemum ring?

Three rubies

The Etheline necklace is one of eight new items posted to aileen.etsy.com and I think it has an understated glamour. Front and center are three graduated teardrop rubies, while the details include tiny garnets and double rings. Isn't this design grand?

A necklace by any other name...

Happy new year! In just a few short days, eight new items will be added to the shop at aileen.etsy.com! Here is a preview of the Rosalline... This design has graduated strands with rose quartz, pearl, mother-of-pearl, and crystal quartz.

Stormy blues

I hope everyone is staying warm and toasty over the holidays! I am taking advantage of the time at home to prep photos for the next batch of jewellery. Below is a look at the custom Yany necklace I made not long ago - the stones are pyrite, grey moonstone, aquamarine, and a large labradorite:

Tea party

The garden tea party held by PINK in the City was an adorable event and all the attendees dressed for the occasion! Here's a quick snapshot of some of the participants:

The ARIA INDUSTRIES original, a necklace named Zosia, was a part of the silent auction and the lucky winner got it at a great price and of course the entire amount went to charity! Now that's what I call a win-win!

Zosia at a tea party

PINK in the City is back and ARIA INDUSTRIES is excited to be a sponsor again! This annual Vancouver event is a fundraiser for women's cancers and always has a fabulous theme. This year's is a garden tea party (I'm thinking Alice in Wonderland) and can't wait to attend on June 15th! Here is the Zosia necklace, with crystal quartz, grey topaz, and rose quartz, and it will only be available as an auction item:

Dorallama!

The Dora necklace has just been posted to the shop along with seven other pieces. This lariat imposter looks like the real thing, but there is a spring ring clasp in the back because the center stone does not fit through the twisted hoop. This means the piece will not accidentally fall off!

The pink tourmaline has a peachy-pink colour and looks like a juicy teardrop. Rounding out the stones are a solitary morganite next to the twisted hoop and white topazes connected to the clasp.

This necklace has a silly story behind the name: I was speaking in accents and joked about various prices. "Dollar" somehow turned into "Dora" and that's how this name was born!

Like candy

The brand new Clementine necklace was a real design adventure and this post will describe the stone variations that were considered.

The original plan was to use the chandelier component from the Gia, Cyrilla, and Paige earrings with some red, pink, and brown stones. A number of combinations using garnets, rubies, sapphires, and smoky quartzes were tried:

But then I found some carnelians at my favourite Vancouver bead store and a pink sapphire at a fabulous Victoria bead store and knew I had something special. Here is an in-progress shot of the pendant - an earring hook was used during the production stage so I could hold the piece up to tell whether the stones were evenly balanced:

Rounding out the final design are a single crystal quartz above the center stone, red spinels in between everything, and a pink tourmaline to connect the pendant to the necklace. Don't the colours look like candy?

Flowers and branches

I am excited to announce that ten new items have been posted to the shop at aileen.etsy.com. One of the pieces is the Sakura necklace, a cherry blossom inspired lariat I wrote about previously here and here. The rest are all earrings and one my new favourites is a pair of earrings called Leslie. The design is very simple and consists of faceted pyrite and hematite, both of which are dark metallic stones. From these stones hang a branch-like flourish that shines and shimmers as it moves:

A bloom for all seasons

This is just a quickie post to show off a brand new lariat, which will debut at the Steveston Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday, November 27th. The little teardrop shaped pieces are fine silver, which is 99.9% pure silver as opposed to sterling's 92.5%. They were made in a recent PMC class and are imprinted with a cherry blossom design. My friend Elisse came up with the name Sakura and I think it's a perfect fit!

Pink is for girls

I am finally preparing to post items in the shop! It's a little slow but I expect to get some work done over the weekend. Here is another sneak peek in the meantime... This is the Delice necklace, which is one of my favourite showy pieces ever. The jawdropping centerpiece is a 59.50ct crystal quartz pendant it is topped with a large cluster of pink and white topazes, rose quartzes, and pearls.

The countdown begins!

There is now under one week left to June, which means there is still time to snag a deal at aileen.etsy.com. All earrings are discounted during the 10/15/20 sale and the same discount applies to bracelets and necklaces purchased at the same time!

The Salmon Festival Craft Fair is just around the corner so be sure to mark July 1st on your calendar! All of the jewellery in the shop will be available for viewing and purchase in the Steveston Community Centre gymnasium from 10am to 5pm so please come by and say hi! Several items will make their debut at the craft fair including this understated citrine necklace, called Diana:

Pink'd!

Want to know how to get this beautiful pink quartz, peridot, and citrine necklace?

Aria Industries is donating to the Pink in the City silent auction, set to take place at Canvas Lounge on Friday, June 25th! The event is a fundraiser for women's cancers and the Violane necklace will be one of many beautiful items available. Find out more about the event and purchase tickets here!

Goodbye Elaine

When one of my coworkers informed us she would be leaving us for a job closer to home, the rest of us wondered what departing gift to give her. We knew she loved necklaces so it did not take long to decide! We hammered out the details: it would be a little bit like the Carmen, but would use smoky quartz, green amethyst, and crystal quartz. These are the notes I made at the time:

When I started to work on the necklace, I realized that having two smoky quartz beads next to each other would not look great because there would be too much darkness surrounding the crystal quartzes. Thus, the design was modified and the resulting Elaine necklace has alternating light and dark elements with beautiful green amethysts added to the mix:

Just in time for the holidays

I love it when there is a custom order and the customer gives me some general guidelines and then lets me go wild with the design. My friend Voula liked the stones used in the custom James necklace that I made for another friend's wedding so I worked them into a different design. Here are the signature three rubies and single crystal quartz of the new Voula necklace:

Don't forget the Steveston Christmas Craft Fair is only a week away on the 28th and all of the items in the shop at aileen.etsy.com will be at the fair. It is inside the indoor tennis court behind Steveston Community Centre (4111 Moncton Road, Richmond) from 10am to 4pm and there will be goodies... The first eight customers receive a free gift, valued between $20-50, and all visitors can enter their names in a draw for a $20 gift card. I hope to see you there!

Leaf pendant

Although the Steveston Christmas Craft Fair is only two weekends away, I am still busy making a few more pieces of jewellery before I begin my show preparations. Here is one of my brand new pieces, the Norah, which has black onyx, obsidian, smoky quartz, and hematite.

Autumn hues

Just in time for Thanksgiving in Canada, five pieces of jewellery have had their prices permanently reduced! They include two pieces that feature gorgeous yellow-orange citrines - there are the Gloria earrings and the Dylan necklace as shown below:
